DOVER, Ind. - A crop duster airplane was struck by gunfire in western Boone County earlier this month. The pilot wasn't injured, but police want answers.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department said the crop duster was in the Dover area near State Road 32 and State Road 75 when it was struck by gunfire on July 18. The pilot safely landed the plane after it was shot and no injuries were reported.
The sheriff's department is asking the public for help in tracking down the person responsible for opening fire on the aircraft. Both the FBI and the FAA are involved in the investigation.
Anyone with information about the crop duster incident is asked to call the Boone County Sheriff's Department at (765) 482-1412, option 6.
