Delphi woman airlifted to hospital after off-road vehicle rolls over in crash

CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. - A 62-year-old woman from Delphi was seriously injured in an off-road vehicle crash and airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital.

According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, conservation officers were called to the off-road vehicle crash on Sunday afternoon. It occurred near the intersection of 900 North and Meridian Road.

Investigators said a 67-year-old Delphi man was operating the side-by-side off-road vehicle when he lost control and rolled the vehicle. The man was thrown from the rolling vehicle and sustained only minor injuries.

The female passenger needed to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel. She was then flown via Lifeline helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital due to suffering severe head injuries.

Neither occupant was wearing a helmet, DNR stated, with only the female passenger wearing a seatbelt. DNR stressed the public to always wear a helmet and protective riding gear.
