Ashley Anne Opens Up About Her Past In Heartfelt New Single "Couch Surfing"

Rising singer-songwriter Ashley Anne releases her emotional new single "couch surfing," available now on all streaming platforms.
A deeply personal and resonant track, "couch surfing" speaks to anyone who's ever felt like they didn't have a true home or stable family foundation. Drawing from Ashley's own experiences growing up in a complicated and sometimes abusive household, the song reflects the reality of living on other people's couches through middle and high school, never quite having a safe place to land. The raw honesty of the song has already struck a chord with fans online, quickly becoming one of Ashley's most anticipated releases yet.
"I had the title 'couch surfing' written down for months. I had pitched it to multiple writing rooms, and it was never the one we'd write that day. It was a term my sisters and I would throw around as kids. We called ourselves couch surfers: people who hopped from one person's couch to the next couch. We also grew up in a beach town, so it was fitting. I got in a room with three of my best girl friends: Averie Bielski, Olivia DaPonte, and Fran Litterski. We were as honest and as raw as possible. I posted a clip of me singing the song, and 200k views later, the outreach was immense. The number of people who have felt those same emotions was moving. At that moment, I knew it'd be the next single and it'd be a special one," shares Ashley.
After a string of viral videos and growing momentum, Ashley continues to prove herself as one of country music's most honest and compelling storytellers. The song quickly caught the attention of fans and influencers alike, including Tana Mongeau, who publicly connected with the song's message on TikTok.
"couch surfing" follows a standout year for Ashley, whose catalog continues to expand with heartfelt storytelling and distinct perspective. Previously, Ashley released her debut EP, dear dolly (January 2024), followed by her sophomore project, call me when you land (November 2024). Her first duet, "Fence" with Eli Winders, drew acclaim from Holler, who praised her "tender harmonies & vivid storytelling," as well as recognition from CMT, CMA, Country Central, and the Academy of Country Music.
Since her debut, Ashley Anne has shared stages with artists including Avery Anna, Charles Wesley Godwin, Tigirlily Gold, and Josh Turner, and has performed at CMA Fest in both 2024 and 2025, including a spotlight appearance at Spotify House on the Fresh Finds Stage. Named an Artist to Watch by Holler, Sweety High, and Women of Country, and recognized as part of Spotify's Fresh Finds Class of 2024, Ashley continues to build momentum as one of country music's most authentic new voices.
