Rising country artist Dillon Carmichael revives one his fan-favorites with a new version of "Raised Up Wrong," now featuring multiplatinum singer-songwriter Chris Janson.
Inspired by Carmichael's Kentucky, blue-collar upbringing, the defiant single flips the script on Southern stereotypes and proudly reclaims the rural values that shaped him. Penned alongside Josh Phillips, Devin Dawson, and Jared Conrad, "Raised Up Wrong" quickly became a standout track from Carmichael's third studio album, Keepin' Country Alive (June 2025, Riser House Records).
"I wrote it from the heart and I meant every word I said," Carmichael said. "I am such a huge Chris Janson fan from day one and I am beyond honored to share the mic with him."
Produced by Jared Conrad and Carmichael, "Raised Up Wrong (feat. Chris Janson)" underscores Carmichael's mission to keep country's roots front and center while celebrating the quirks that make it human. Janson, the Grand Ole Opry member known for chart-toppers like "Buy Me a Boat" and "Good Vibes," brings a firebrand energy that complements Carmichael's grit.
The new version follows Carmichael's summer album Keepin' Country Alive, which earned more than 755K first-week streams and drew praise for its "gritty, soulful vocals with soaring instrumentation," (Country Swag). The 14-track album has been spotlighted on major playlists including Spotify's All New Country, Apple Music's Country Risers, and Pandora's Top Country Hits. Its lead single, "She Gone," ranked among the Top 5 Most Added at Country Radio, while fan favorites "Son Of A" and "Drinkin' Problems" delivered consecutive Top 25 singles and 36M+ combined streams.
