Fans congratulated her, believing the news was real. Grace revealed the hoax on February 15, posting "plot twist: the only thing we committed to was the song." In a Country Now interview, Grace explained: "Some people are probably going to think I'm crazy for faking my own engagement. But honestly, I got so into the artistic take on it because the song means so much to me." The track reflects her real experience of losing a relationship because her father wouldn't approve their marriage.
