Parmalee's "Cowgirl" Achieves Rare Four-Week Run At No. 1 On Country Airplay Chart

Parmalee's "Cowgirl" holds the top spot on Billboard's Country Airplay chart for a fourth consecutive week, marking the longest-running No. 1 by a country group in nearly 14 years. The North Carolina band's current hit gained 21% to reach 32.2 million audience impressions during the December 26-January 1 tracking period. "Cowgirl" represents the first four-week chart leader by a group since Zac Brown Band's "Keep Me in Mind" in 2011-12. Extended radio runs by country groups remain uncommon, with "Cowgirl" now tied for the fifth-longest reign among bands since the Country Airplay chart launched in 1990. Lady A previously ruled the chart for five weeks with "Need You Now" in 2009, while Lonestar leads all groups with the eight-week reign of "Amazed" back in 1999. Parmalee's impressive achievement highlights how rare sustained radio success has become for country groups in the modern format.
