Docs: Indy man convicted after striking woman in her eye with key multiple times

INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indy man has been convicted of aggravated battery and other felonies after he assaulted a woman inside her home last year.




The Marion County Prosecutor's Office announced that Aaron Gordy was convicted of four charges following the conclusion of a trial in Marion Superior Court 31.




These include:

• Aggravated Battery (Level 3 Felony)





• Domestic Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (Level 5 Felony)





• Domestic Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon (Level 5 Felony)





• Domestic Battery (Class A Misdemeanor)

The investigation into Gordy began on Aug. 28, 2024, when officers were called to a home located on Valley Creek E. Lane in response to a reported domestic disturbance.




Court documents detail how officers arrived and located the victim "covered in blood" and suffering a serious injury to her eye. Officers also observed a 2-year-old child who reportedly witnessed the assault. The child was also covered in the victim's blood, court documents said.




While the victim received medical treatment on the scene, she revealed that she and Gordy had been arguing before he reportedly struck her multiple times in her right eye with a key, causing "significant visible injuries." Police noted that the bruising, lacerations and swelling were so severe that they prevented the victim from opening her right eye.




Online court records indicate that Gordy is set to learn his sentence at 11 a.m. on Aug. 19.
