Docs: Man hit pregnant woman in throat in emergency room

MUNCIE, Ind. - A Muncie man has been charged after he reportedly attacked a pregnant woman in the throat in an emergency room.




Derek Dinsmore, 63, was charged with Battery, a Level 5 Felony.

According to court documents, officers were dispatched to an emergency waiting room on Friday around 7:42 p.m. on a report of a disturbance. Dinsmore was reportedly upset that the pregnant individual was throwing up in a trash can next to his ill father. Dinsmore then moved the trash can, but the woman took it back and she placed it where she had it initially.




The back-and-forth made Dinsmore angry and he allegedly struck the pregnant woman directly in the throat. The woman said that she was in pain, according to reports. She also stated that she only had the trash can because she felt nauseous.




Dinsmore was released from prison on a $5,000 bond that was posted on Saturday.
