MUNCIE, Ind. -- A Muncie man who had previously pleaded guilty to multiple robbery-related charges allegedly participated in two separate incidents last month, including a reported armed robbery at a Muncie Burger King location.
According to court documents filed earlier this month in Delaware County, 22-year-old Geno Vargas has been preliminarily charged with:
- One count of armed robbery, a Level 3 felony
- One count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a Level 4 felony
- One count of pointing a firearm, a Level 6 felony
This comes after Vargas pleaded guilty on March 4 to one count of domestic robbery and one count of attempted robbery in a separate case.
On the evening of June 18, officers with the Muncie Police Department were dispatched to a Burger King in Muncie in reference to an armed robbery. The court documents said that Vargas was reportedly one of two individuals who held a person at gunpoint during a firearms-related transaction.
Vargas reportedly wanted to purchase two firearms from the victim during the transaction. The documents said that the victim requested to have a photo of an identification card before the transaction was completed. Once that request was denied, Vargas reportedly pointed a handgun at the victim, telling the person to give him the two 9mm Taurus Armas firearms.
The documents said that the victim reportedly showed officers messages that they had with Vargas. Both the email and Vargas' Facebook profile included the "Baby G" alias.
On June 28, the documents said that Vargas was identified as a passenger during a reported stolen vehicle pursuit in Madison County. Officials said that one of the stolen firearms was reportedly located inside the vehicle.
On July 9, the documents said that Vargas was located and taken into custody in relation to the Burger King armed robbery. In an interview with police, Vargas reportedly admitted to being present for the robbery, but "advised he had no involvement."
In another set of court documents in Delaware County, officers with the Muncie Police Department also provided details on an alleged shoplifting incident at a Buyers Market location that Vargas was involved in.
On June 20, officers were dispatched to the Buyers Market in reference to four shoplifters, one of whom was reportedly Vargas. The court documents said that witnesses told officers that Vargas was standing at the front of the store with a firearm sticking out of his pocket, stating that he was going to "air this b---- out."
In this case, Vargas was preliminarily charged with:
- One count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a Level 4 felony
- One count of intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony.
