NEW CASTLE, Ind. - A New Castle man was arrested after he allegedly battered an individual unconscious, according to court documents.
Carter Lee Collins, 26, was charged with the following:
- Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, a Level 5 Felony
- Battery Against a Public Safety Official, a Level 6 Felony
- Possession of Methamphetamine, a Level 6 Felony
- Resisting Law Enforcement, a Class A Misdemeanor
- Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury, a Class A Misdemeanor
- Disorderly Conduct, a Class B Misdemeanor
Officers were dispatched at approximately 5:10 p.m. to the 2000 block of Broad Street on a report of a physical altercation. Authorities were advised that a man was bleeding severely and may have lost an eye.
Upon arrival, police allegedly witnessed Collins striking a man while he was bleeding profusely from his face. The officer drew a taser and commanded Collins to exit. Collins complied and was restrained.
Collins reportedly told police that two men called him a b**** and told him that he could not fight. He allegedly continued saying that he was not going to let people talk down to him.
During this time, Collins reportedly attempted to leave and kicked an officer at the scene.
While authorities searched Collins, they allegedly found a plastic bag with crystal-like substances. It later field-tested positive for methamphetamine, according to police.
