Docs: Self proclaimed child porn 'addict' from Greenwood arrested for sharing files

GREENWOOD, Ind. -- A 39-year-old Greenwood man was recently arrested after he was reportedly discovered to have sent around 50 child porn files to users online.

According to court documents recently filed in Johnson County, Rudy Mohika Jr. was charged with one count of child exploitation, a Level 4 felony, and one count of possession of child pornography, a Level 5 felony.

In December 2024, the Lebanon Police Department received a cyber tip from the Kik platform about suspected child pornography uploads in November 2024. The documents said that there were reportedly 51 uploaded files, many of which contained content of minors engaging in sexual acts.

Investigators used emails and IP addresses to link the uploads to a Greenwood address. The documents said that the investigators then linked the Kik account to a person later identified as Mohika.

The investigation led law enforcement to conduct a search of Mohika's Greenwood home. During the search, many electronic items were seized, including multiple phones and tablets.

The documents said that Mohika spoke with law enforcement as the search was conducted. During the interview, Mohika said he figured that law enforcement was at his home because there were "things" on his phone, referring to "underage porn."

Mohika told police that he had recently deleted the files from his phone "because he knew it was wrong," stating that he has been "addicted to child pornography for approximately 10 years."

"(Mohika) advised that throughout the 10 years, he would start watching child pornogrpahy, quit and delete everything, then start watching it again," the documents said. "(Mohika told law enforcement) that it just became a 'routine' or cycle."

On the Kik platform, Mohika reportedly said it started with chatting with other people about their fantasies and progressed to sharing child pornography. The documents said that Mohika said he would send people videos in order to receive new ones.

"I commend our hardworking law enforcement agencies for working so hard to protect our children," Johnson County Prosecutor Lance Hamner said in a news release surrounding the charges. "This is how we keep our kids safe."

The release said that a Level 4 felony carries a maximum penalty of 12 years and a Level 5 felony carries a maximum penalty of six years. Mohika's initial hearing is scheduled for May 29.
