FRANKLIN, Ind. - A Franklin man was arrested after he allegedly went to his father's job and stole a car.
Derrick Wade, 29, was charged with auto theft, a Level 5 Felony.
Officers with the Hancock County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 3100 block of North Distribution Way on June 9 in Greenfield on a report of a vehicle theft that occurred on June 8 at approximately 7 p.m.
Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the manager of the company, who claimed that Wade stole a white Ford F-250 pickup from the property.
According to court documents, later that evening the son called his father and told him that he stole a truck from his job. The father then called the manager, and the manager called the police.
The manager gave the authorities a USB flash drive that reportedly showed Wade leaving the property with the vehicle.
Wade was previously convicted of auto theft in Marion County.
This is an active investigation. Information will be updated as it becomes available.
