INDIANAPOLIS -- Three people were injured in an early Monday morning incident in which dozens of shots were fired on the east side.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers received an initial report of 30 to 40 shots fired at the intersection of 34th and Arlington around 2 a.m. Monday. Police didn't find anyone shot at the immediate location.
Around 2:20 a.m., officers were called to Community East Hospital for a reported a walk-in person shot in stable condition. Officers learned the victim was injured in the earlier shooting and self-transported to the hospital.
About 40 minutes later, around 3 a.m., police were called to IU Health Methodist Hospital on a second report of a walk-in person shot. Police believe the male victim was also injured in the earlier shooting near 34th and Arlington. That man was also in stable condition.
Five minutes after that, officers received a third report of a walk-in person shot at Eskenazi Hospital. Officers said the victim was in stable condition.
IMPD didn't disclose the extent of the individuals' injuries. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
