MOORESVILLE, Ind. - A Mooresville police officer was struck by a driver during a police chase on Saturday.
Mooresville Metropolitan Police Department Chief Kerry Buckner confirmed that the crash happened near the intersection of State Road 67 and Sunset Lane. Per MMPD, the driver hit the officer while the officer was trying to deploy stop sticks to end the chase.
Buckner reported that the officer was transported from the scene to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after the crash. Medical personnel at the hospital verified that the officer had no broken bones and later released him from their care.
MMPD indicated that the motorist who struck the officer continued to drive after the crash. Police eventually lost track of the driver because they reached speeds of 130 mph or faster.
According to MMPD, the driver's vehicle had a false paper license plate on it.
