INDIANAPOLIS - The Administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency is slated to visit Indianapolis Tuesday.

In a post on X, Lee Zeldin indicated that he and U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright will "propose one of the largest deregulatory actions in U.S. history" during their trip to Indianapolis. Neither Zeldin nor Wright reported exactly what action they plan to propose.

Indiana Governor Mike Braun and other local leaders are also expected to participate in the event.

According to a report from The Associated Press, Zeldin was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in January. At the time, President Donald Trump pledged to work with the EPA to cut down on climate rules.

With Zeldin at the helm, the EPA has followed through on some of Trump's deregulatory promises.

ln June, the EPA moved to repeal rules that limit the amount of greenhouse gas that can be emitted by power plants fueled by coal and natural gas, according to the AP. Another report from the AP indicates the EPA is planning to reconsider asbestos rules implemented by the administration of former President Joe Biden.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
