INDIANAPOLIS - The longest tenured Pacer, and a key component to the team that knocked on the door of an NBA championship, is leaving the Circle City.
ESPN's NBA Insider Shams Charania announced that Myles Turner agreed to a four-year, $107 million deal to join the Milwaukee Bucks. Turner, who played 10 seasons with the Indiana Pacers, was a free agent and able to sign with any NBA team.
Charania stated that Turner "wished to remain in Indiana" after being so close to winning the city's first NBA championship. Turner's reps reportedly pushed to keep the center in Indiana but "Indiana's aversion to the tax, which grew after Tyrese Haliburton's injury, allowed the Bucks to get the new franchise center."
Turner was drafted with the 11th pick in the 2015 draft by the Indiana Pacers. He was part of the All-Rookie Second Team in his first season and twice was the NBA blocks leader during his stint with the Pacers.
Turner played a key role in the Pacers' push to the NBA Finals. The 6'11" center provided rim protection throughout the playoffs and battled with OKC's 7'1" center Chet Holmgren throughout the highly contested Finals.
In the 2025 postseason run to the Finals, Turner averaged 13.8 points per game, 4.8 rebounds and 2 blocks. Turner started off the Finals strong with 15 points in Game 1 and 16 points in Game 2. But Turner provided only 6 points and 4 rebounds in Game 7, when the Pacers were reeling from Haliburton's injury and in need of players to step up and bring home Indiana's first NBA championship.
This is a developing story.
