INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Fever announced on Tuesday afternoon that Sophie Cunningham will be out for the rest of the season after suffering a right knee injury.
Connecticut Sun guard Bria Hartley fell on Cunningham's leg in the second quarter of Sunday's overtime win. The team says Cunningham is expected to make a full recovery.
The guard is in her first season with Indiana after being traded from Phoenix in the offseason. She's averaging 8.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in 30 games this season.
She missed time at the beginning of the season with an ankle injury.
The Fever's season has been decimated by injuries with All-Star guard Caitlin Clark missing most of the season and guards Aari McDonald (broken foot) and Sydney Colson (torn ACL) suffering season-ending injuries.
The team signed guard Shey Peddy to a seven-day hardship contract and released guard Kyra Lambert.
The Fever are 19-16 and in seventh place in the WNBA. The top eight teams make the playoffs.
