Fire destroys garage, damages home in Wayne Township

WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ind. - A fire destroyed a garage and damaged a home in Wayne Township on Sunday.




Public police reporting systems indicate the Wayne Township Fire Department was dispatched to South Vine Street - which is located off of Rockville Road near South Lynhurst Drive - around 7:03 p.m. to work on a reported garage fire. When WTFD crews arrived at the scene, they located a garage fully involved in fire.

The fire impacting the garage ultimately spread to the primary residence located on the property.




WTFD reported that its crews - with assistance from the Indianapolis and Speedway fire departments - brought the blaze under control in 16 minutes.




WTFD reported that it is still working determine the cause and origin of the fire. Medics checked out one civilian who was injured during the fire. The civilian refused further treatment or transport to a hospital after medics' evaluation.
