
HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. - A former Indianapolis Metro Police officer has been arrested in New Palestine.
According to the Indiana State Police, authorities received information on July 9 about 54-year-old David McDaniel allegedly sexually abusing a child.
Following an investigation that was led by ISP, McDaniel was arrested on preliminary charges on Thursday after ISP detectives and ISP SWAT members conducted a warranted search of the suspect's residence in New Palestine.
The crimes reportedly took place before McDaniel retired from IMPD in 2024.
Official charges have not been filed; formal charges will be determined by the Hancock County Prosecutor upon review of the case.
According to online court records, McDaniel is scheduled to appear in court on July 28.
