FRANKLIN, Ind. - Franklin police will provide an update Monday on the decades-old unsolved case involving Baby Hope.
In 1994, two boys were searching for aluminum cans when they found an infant girl in a trash can. The baby had been stabbed to death.
Authorities named the girl "Baby Hope" and buried her at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. The community donated money so she could have a proper burial.
Her death, which shocked the community and garnered national attention, has remained unsolved for decades.
Police investigated hundreds of possible leads but have been unable to identify the girl's mother or discover the circumstances leading up to her death.
Investigators preserved Baby Hope's DNA in hopes of finding a match.
The Franklin Police Department didn't disclose much about Monday's update, which is scheduled for 9 a.m.
