HAZMAT team on scene of chemical fire in Newburgh


HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- Crews are on scene of a working chemical fire in Warrick County.




Officials with Warrick County Dispatch say they got a call about the fire at 2:38 p.m. on Saturday. They went on to say the fire department was called to the area of Vann Road and Anderson in Newburgh. Officials with Vanderburgh County Emergency Management say an EFD HAZMAT team and several Fire Units are on scene.






Officials with the Warrick County Sheriffs Office say a Shelter-in-Place Advisory is in place in the area. Residents in the area are asked to remain indoors, keep windows and doors closed, and avoid the affected area to allow emergency crews to work safely.




Officials with Warrick County EMA say to avoid the following roads:






  • Vann Road




  • Anderson Road




  • Lincoln Avenue




  • Wethers Road





Officials have not yet released what caused the fire or if any injuries have been reported.
