Hinton, Boyd, Curtis head Colts' senior candidates for Pro Football Hall of Fame

INDIANAPOLIS - Four Colts, including three icons who touched two cities, are among 52 senior candidates who will be considered for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2026.

Offensive lineman Chris Hinton, whose 13-year career began with decorated seasons in Baltimore and Indy, along with cornerback Bobby Boyd and linebacker Mike Curtis, both long-time Baltimore standouts, advanced to the next level in the process. A fourth, wideout Stanley Morgan, played in Indy in the final of his 14 seasons.

A nine-person Blue-Ribbon Seniors Committee will reduce the 52 candidates to 25 and then nine, before settling on three finalist candidates for the Class of 2026.

The entire Class of 2026 will be determined prior to Super Bowl LX and enshrined next August in Canton, Ohio.

Boyd is one of the most prolific corners in NFL history. His 57 interceptions in nine seasons are a franchise record by 20 and are tied for the 13th most in NFL history. He had at least seven interceptions five times and had nine in consecutive seasons (1964-65).

Of the 12 players with at least 58 interceptions, 10 have bronze busts in Canton, Ohio.

The Baltimore Colts selected Hinton with the fourth overall pick in 1983, and he was named to six Pro Bowls in his seven seasons with the team. He earned a seventh with the Atlanta Falcons following a 1990 trade that allowed the Colts to select quarterback Jeff George with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.

Curtis evolved into the heart and soul of the Colts' defense after they selected him with the 14th overall pick in 1965. He was named to four Pro Bowls and was a part of Baltimore's 1970 world championship team.

The candidates also include Mark Clayton, the long-time Miami Dolphins wideout who attended Cathedral High School.
