INDIANAPOLIS - A stretch of I-65 just south of Indianapolis will close this weekend as part of an ongoing construction project.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, northbound I-65 will shut down around 9 p.m. on Friday, July 18, and reopen by 6 a.m. on Monday, July 21. Drivers will encounter the same closure during the following weekend (July 25 through July 28).
This is part of the I-65 Safety and Efficiency project.
INDOT said crews will work on drainage improvements. The closures extend from the I-65/I-70 interchange to the I-65/I-465 interchange. As a result, several ramps will close:
- Eastbound I-465 to northbound I-65
- Westbound I-465 to northbound I-65
- Keystone Avenue entrance/exit rampsĀ
- Raymond Street entrance/exit ramps
- Morris Street/Prospect Street exit ramp
The construction zone speed limit is 45 mph.
INDOT will detour traffic on I-465 and I-70. Signs will be posted guiding drivers through the detour route.
The work schedule depends on the weather and could change based on the conditions.
