INDIANAPOLIS -- An investigation is underway after a vehicle with three juveniles forcefully struck two homes on the far east side of Indianapolis Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters with the Indianapolis Fire Department were dispatched around 3:20 p.m. to Cedar Pine Drive after receiving reports that a car had collided with a home in the area.
When first responders arrived, IFD said they met with a 13-year-old who told them her 16-year-old sister was driving south on German Church Road when she noticed that the brakes were not working properly as she turned into the Briarbrook Village Neighborhood.
The driver was unable to bring the vehicle to a halt before it "careened" through one home and struck another, IFD said. The 16-year-old driver, the 13-year-old and a 7-year-old managed to exit the vehicle without assistance, IFD said.
IFD confirmed no residents were home when the car burst through its garage. However, the occupants in the other home told firefighters that the impact caused their home to shake "forcefully."
IFD's Collapse Rescue Team also responded to the scene and completed a double post vertical shore to help stabilize a damaged section of the garage.
