INDIANAPOLIS -- A 50-year-old has been arrested on preliminary battery charges after a reported shooting on the northeast side of Indianapolis.
According to officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to a call of a person shot at a home on Monterey Road on Monday evening. When officers arrived, they reportedly found a person with a gunshot wound. The person was awake and breathing.
In an update on Tuesday morning, IMPD officials said that they believe this incident started with a disturbance between known individuals. As part of the investigation, 50-year-old Keon Bennett was identified as the alleged shooter.
The update read that Bennett was located nearby by officers in IMPD's east district. Bennett was taken into custody without incident on preliminary charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make the final charging decision in this case.
