IMPD: 1 critically injured in shooting on near northwest side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS - A person was critically injured in a shooting on the near northwest side of Indianapolis Monday night.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 600 block of Eugene Street - which is located near the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street and West 30th Street - around 7:58 p.m. to investigate a shooting. When police arrived at the scene, they located a victim with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.

IMPD initially reported that the victim was "awake and breathing" when officers found them. Police later specified that the victim is currently in critical condition.
It is currently unclear if IMPD has identified or detained any suspects or persons of interest at this point in its investigation of the shooting. As of this article's publication, no additional information on the shooting or the circumstances that led to it had been made available.
