On the morning of July 3, officers with IMPD's north district were dispatched to the 4000 block of Meadows Lane on a reported shooting. At the apartment complex, officers spoke with a man who said he had been in an altercation with a man, later identified as Torrence, who allegedly pulled a gun on him.
The man told officers that he was "in fear for his life and that he fired his own gun back at (Torrence) when (he) fired shots at him," the release said. The man is believed to have sustained a graze wound during the shooting.
At the time, IMPD's SWAT team came to the scene to search the complex for the suspect. Torrence was identified as the suspect by IMPD homicide detectives during an investigation into a reported shooting.
