INDIANAPOLIS - An Indianapolis man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a shooting earlier this month that left two women injured, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD).

Police said Antwan Thomas, 35, was preliminarily charged with the following:

  • Dealing in a Narcotic

  • Unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon

Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of south Meridian Street at approximately 3 a.m. on Sept. 5 on a report of two people shot. When police arrived they found two adult women suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

Detectives later learned the victims had reportedly been in a verbal argument with a security guard working at a nearby business. During the altercation, Thomas allegedly fired multiple shots, striking both victims before walking away and removing the shirt of his security uniform.

On Sept. 11, officers arrested Thomas in the 3800 block of Ridgeview Drive. Police said a search warrant at Thomas's home led to the recovery of four illegally possessed firearms, narcotics, and a large amount of cash.

Thomas is prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a prior felony conviction.

This remains an active investigation.
