IMPD: Juvenile injured in downtown canal triple shooting

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Metro Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured three people early Saturday morning.

According to IMPD, before 3:30 a.m. officers responded to the canal in the 400 block of Indiana Avenue after multiple officers heard gunshots, and multiple callers reported shots being fired in the area.

Upon arrival, officers located two adult males and one juvenile male with gunshot wounds. The victims were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Police say multiple people were detained, and multiple witnesses came forward and provided doorbell footage.

Officers recovered multiple firearms, with handgun and rifle cartridges being recovered at the scene.

IMPD believes this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public. Officers believe some type of disturbance is the cause of the shooting.

IMPD will be investigating on the west side of the canal between St. Clair St. and New York St. for the next couple hours.

Anyone with information about the shooting should contact IMPD at (317) 327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).
