INDIANAPOLIS - Indy police are investigating after a person reportedly fired shots from inside their home while constables were attempting to serve an eviction notice on the city's near east side.
Indianapolis Metro police officers were called around 11 a.m. Monday to a home in the 1100 block of N. Gale Street for a shots fired investigation. Center Township Constables reportedly called police after they heard what they thought were gunshots from inside the home.
The constables were reportedly at the home attempting to serve an eviction notice to the resident when the shots were fired. IMPD stated that officers arrived soon after and tried to make contact with the resident, but were unsuccessful.
An IMPD report says 12 officers responded to the scene and lists an unknown weapon and a generic firearm possession offense as the reason for the call. The narrative of the report provides no additional information.
According to IMPD Officer Tommy Thompson, no Center Township Constables nor IMPD officers were injured during the incident. Thompson said Monday afternoon that IMPD's investigation is ongoing.
