IMPD: Shots fired investigation leads to 'large police presence' on near east side
INDIANAPOLIS -- Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a shots fired incident that reportedly led to a "large police presence" on the near east side of Indianapolis Monday morning.
At around 7:24 a.m. on Monday, the department posted on social media that there is a large police presence near the 600 block of Woodruff Place. Individuals are asked to avoid the area.
This comes after multiple police runs were issued at around 6:30 a.m. Monday in the area on a reported shooting. In an update from IMPD, officials said this police presence was in reference to a shots fired investigation.
In a social media update, the department identified two suspects possibly related to the investigation as a man in a black hoodie with tan or gray pants, and a man in a gray or white top with black pants.
"Please continue to avoid the area and call 911 if you see anything suspicious or matching this description," the department said in the update.
