IMPD: Teen suspect arrested in relation to mid-June Canal Walk shooting
INDIANAPOLIS -- Officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department have arrested a second individual in relation to the mid-June shooting along the Canal Walk in downtown Indianapolis.
On Monday, a 17-year-old was served an arrest warrant while the teen was at the Criminal Justice Campus. IMPD officials said the 17-year-old, who was not identified by police, was taken into custody without incident.
This comes after 18-year-old Anthony Ford was arrested in June in relation to the shooting. According to previous reports, the shooting occurred at the canal Walk between W. Michigan and Walnut streets in the early morning hours on June 21, leading to three injuries and damage to four nearby homes.
According to IMPD, detectives used surveillance camera footage and eyewitness accounts to identify multiple suspects. The department said arrest warrants were issued for the outstanding suspects related to this shooting.
The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make the final charging decision in this case.
