Indiana DNR: Carmel man's body recovered from lake in Kosciusko County
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- An investigation is underway after Indiana conservation officers recovered the body of a Carmel man in Kosciusko County early Sunday.
According to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Kosciusko County Dispatch received a call on July 12 at approximately 10:59 p.m. reporting a missing person in the area of the 11100 block of Northeast Wawasee Drive. The call was made by concerned family after they did not hear from the missing man for around three hours since they returned to their residence.
Indiana DNR said conservation officers responded to the area and searched the shoreline and the nearby area. Around 2:22 a.m., they reportedly discovered a body in three feet of water. Officials identified the deceased man as 21-year-old Riley Thoren.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office and the Syracuse Police Department also assisted. Thoren's exact cause of death will be revealed at a later time once an autopsy is conducted.
