Indiana Fever lose game 3 to Las Vegas Aces 84-72, trail 1-2 in series

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Fever came home to Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday night after stealing game one in Las Vegas, beating the Aces 89-73.

Game two was not the same story as the Aces blew out the Fever 90-68, led by A'ja Wilson's 25 points and nine rebound performance.

Their homecoming was no cake walk, a back-and-forth game that saw multiple lead changes, but ultimately the Fever couldn't overcome the Aces, losing 84-72.

The Fever have already surpassed many expectations this season after their star, Caitlin Clark, went down with what ended up being a season-ending injury on July 15.

In her absence, others have stepped up, including guard Kelsey Mitchell, who finished the 2025 regular season as the WNBA leader in three pointers made, hitting 111 shots from beyond the arc.

In game three, the Fever couldn't spark enough magic as the Aces jumped to an early 20-16 lead at the end of the first, led by Jackie Young's six first-quarter points. The Fever's Aliyah Boston matched Young with six of her own points in the first.

The Fever narrowed the gap at half, only trailing 35-34. Guard Lexie Hull had 10 points after she hit two 3-pointers in the first half and grabbed seven rebounds. Kelsey Mitchell added 11 of her own first-half points.

WNBA reigning MVP A'ja Wilson was kept quiet offensively in the first with just three points, but contributed defensively with four first-half blocks. Young finished the first half with 10 points, leading the way for Las Vegas.

The Fever took their first lead of the game early in the third quarter. The rest of the third continued to be back and forth with the Aces inching out a 59-56 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Young more than doubled her scoring output in the third, adding 11 points in the quarter.

The Aces pulled away, outscoring the Fever 19-14 in the fourth quarter and winning 84-72.

Young led Las Vegas with 25 while Wilson added 13 on a rough shooting night, going just 6 of 20 from the field. NaLyssa Smith also added 16 points for the Aces.

Meanwhile, Mitchell led the way in a losing effort for the Fever, scoring 21 with Hull adding 16.

The Fever look to stay alive in game four on Sunday afternoon, tipoff is at 3 p.m.
