INDIANAPOLIS - Expect food, farm animals and a whole lot of fun because the Indiana State Fair is back for its 168th year!
Opening day is Aug. 1 for the two-week stretch at the fairgrounds.
From bacon pickle ranch pizza to cookie butter cold brew floats, the state fair has dozens of creative combos for you to try.
"I think two people came for round two," said one vendor, Destinee Smith from The Cavity Factory.
People got the chance to try foods a day early on Thursday during a special preview.
"The Oreo pickle thing is weird. It's kind of just like a fried pickle with Oreo cream in the middle, but surprisingly, really good," said Dylan Groce, one of the taste testers.
Folks are not only looking forward to their first bite of something fried, but also to sharing good food and good times with friends and family.
"We believe that people come back every year to spend time with their families, to reconnect over a lemon shake-up," said LeRoy Lewis III, community and media relations director with the Indiana State Fair.
"The kids will ride the rides, but we hit the food," said Mike Kueper, another taste tester.
This year in the midway, thrill seekers can expect the return of the Cliffhanger. Families looking for a more relaxed ride, however, can take a spin on the Ferris wheel or the Skyride.
"It's the opportunity to get up and see the city from a really high viewpoint, and then if you have a romantic time with your date or significant other, that's a great time as well," said Lewis.
The state fair owes its start to agriculture, so of course the barns will be filled with cattle, goats, sheep and majestic Clydesdales.
"We want you also to go to the circus, come to Vinyl Revival, but also go and see some of the livestock and support some of our 4-Hers," said Lewis.
Free concerts will close the night out every day the fair is open.
"I mean, just the whole atmosphere of it, and it's like it's a yearly tradition at this point, so it's just, that time again, and it's just a fun experience every year," Ezra Groce.
The last day to enjoy the 2025 Indiana State Fair is Aug. 17.
