INDIANAPOLIS -- Tickets to showings of next year's most anticipated film are already on sale at the IMAX Theater in the Indiana State Museum in downtown Indianapolis.

Four opening weekend screenings of Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" are now on sale. The film, set to release on July 17, 2026, will be screened on IMAX 70mm film and is one of a select few theaters on Earth that will screen the film in this manner.

According to the IMAX Theater at the Indiana State Museum, Nolan's "The Odyssey" is the first feature film ever to be shot entirely with IMAX film cameras. Based on Homer's epic poem, the film's cast includes:

  • Tom Holland

  • Matt Damon

  • Zendaya

  • Jon Bernthal

  • Robert Pattinson

  • Anne Hathaway

  • Elliot Page

  • Charlize Theron

  • Himesh Patel

  • Lupita Nyong'o

Hundreds of people descended on downtown Indianapolis in 2023 to watch Nolan's "Oppenheimer," a Best Picture-winning film that followed the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer and how the atomic bomb was developed. The majority of the film's 70mm IMAX screenings sold out. Nolan's other films include "The Dark Knight," "Memento," "Inception" and "Tenet."

This comes after the IMAX Theater at the Indiana State Museum held a plethora of screenings for all kinds of films, including first-run and classics like "Superman" and "Sinners," as well as "The Grateful Dead Movie" and "Rudy."

The 357-seat theater's screen is the largest one in the state, measuring around six stories tall and 84 feet wide. Screenings also include 12,000 watts of digital surround sound, according to the release.

"This isn't just a movie," said IMAX Theatre Manager Neale Johantgen in the release, "it's a voyage. It's Homeric. It's historic. And we're proud that downtown Indy is one of the few places in the world offering this level of presentation."

More screenings of Nolan's "The Odyssey" are expected to be added at a later date. For more information, and to purchase tickets, visit the theater's website.
