Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott to become State's Secretary of Public Safety

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Governor Mike Braun has appointed a new Secretary of Public Safety.
In a post on X, Braun announced that Anthony Scott - the Superintendent of Indiana State Police - had accepted an offer to become the state's next Secretary of Public Safety. Jennifer-Ruth Green had previously occupied the position in Braun's cabinet.
As of this article's publication, the exact reason of Green's departure had not been made clear by Braun's office.
"I want to thank Jennifer-Ruth Green for her service in my cabinet," Braun wrote in his post on X. "She was a part of a transformative time in Indiana's history, and we wish her the best of luck on her next endeavor."
According to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security's website, Braun made Green Secretary of Public Safety and IDHS Executive Director in January 2025.
Per the IDHS, Green is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Green is also a senior Air Force Officer in the Air Reserve Component.
Scott is the 21st Superintendent of Indiana State Police. He succeeded Doug Carter as ISP's superintendent.
Per a December news release, Scott started his career with ISP in 1996 as a state trooper. During his near-30-year career with ISP, Scott took on roles ranging from detective to district investigative commander to captain.
Scott also graduated from the FBI National Academy in 2019. He was a captain and area commander of enforcement and investigative operations before he became ISP's superintendent.
"I am pleased to announce that Anthony Scott, Superintendent of the Indiana State Police, has accepted the role of Secretary of Public Safety," Braun wrote in his post on X. "He will continue his strong and effective leadership of the Indiana State Police as Superintendent. Hoosiers will be safe with Anthony and the state police setting the tone for all state government public safety agencies."
Braun's post on X seems to indicate Scott will continue to be ISP's superintendent while serving as Indiana's secretary of public safety. Braun's office has not yet released additional clarification on how Scott's two roles will intertwine.
Braun is expected to announce additional personnel updates related to the Indiana Office of Public Safety at the beginning of next week.
