TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana state troopers helped deliver a baby on the side of Interstate 65 in Tippecanoe County Saturday morning.
According to a press release, state police were called to mile marker 163 of I-65 southbound around 8 a.m. to assist with a medical emergency. Dispatchers told troopers the medical emergency involved a woman in labor who was in a vehicle pulled over on the shoulder of the road.
When troopers arrived at the scene, they located a vehicle with a woman who was actively in labor inside it. The baby's father and grandmother were also at the scene with the woman in labor.
Per ISP, troopers quickly determined the baby urgently needed to be delivered. So, the troopers helped deliver a baby boy on the side of the interstate.
Soon after the baby was born, Tippecanoe County EMS arrived at the scene. Medics transported the mother and son to a local hospital for further care.
