
INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indiana State Police trooper has been charged with theft and fraud following the conclusion of a lengthy investigation.
According to an ISP news release, 39-year-old Andrew Kocsis is facing preliminary charges of Theft (Level 6 Felony), Obstruction of Justice (Level 6 Felony) and Fraud (Class A Misdemeanor).
Authorities first became aware of potential criminal activity involving Kocsis when a victim reportedly contacted them in October 2024, ISP said. Kocsis served as an ISP trooper for 17 years and was most recently assigned to the General Headquarters in Indianapolis.
As of this article's publication, ISP has not shared any specific details about the allegations pending against Kocsis.
Charges were filed Monday as Kocsis is due to appear in St. Joseph County Superior Court 2 for his initial court hearing on July 8 at 1 p.m. ISP confirmed that Kocsis has been placed on administrative leave without pay while the investigation continues.
