Juvenile injured after shooting in Richmond




RICHMOND, IN - A juvenile is in the hospital and another juvenile is detained after a shooting that occurred in Richmond Sunday evening.




At 4:17 p.m., Wayne County Emergency Communications received a report of a juvenile shot under the bridge at North 17th street and Maple Drive in Richmond.




Upon arrival, Richmond Police Department and Richmond Fire Department entered moving water to reach the victim to render aid. Firefighters carried the juvenile across the water and up to the bridge, where the victim was taken to Reid Hospital.




The victim was stabilized and later taken to another hospital for advanced care.




RPD Detectives arrived at the scene and canvassed the area for evidence and interviewed witnesses. A juvenile suspect was identified and detained at a secondary location, and taken to a juvenile detention facility.




Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
