Lafayette Road bridge over I-465 closes due to damage to steel beams

INDIANAPOLIS - Recent damage discovered on the Lafayette Road bridge that spans over Interstate 465 has led to a complete closure of the bridge.




The Indiana Department of Transportation confirmed that a recent inspection of the bridge discovered damaged steel beams on the north side of the structure. This led to the bridge, located on the city's northwest side, to be completely closed.

INDOT said a timeline for the bridge reopening has not yet been determined as crews work to assess the scope of the damage and determine what repair work will be required.




Drivers using Lafayette Road are asked to seek an alternative route.
