Ryan Wade Laymon, 53, was charged with the following:
- Child Exploitation, a Level 4 Felony
- Possession of Child Pornography, a Level 5 Felony
The Bloomington Police Department launched an investigation on a Peer to Peer network on Friday, April 11, for offenders sharing child pornography. An investigation was launched into Laymon due to his IP address allegedly being attached to the network with child pornography. The data revealed that he was suspected to be on the network from April 5, 2024 through April 16, 2025.
According to court documents, officers found multiple videos of explicit content with young children. The IP address was reportedly linked to Laymons home at the 700 block of S. Harriet St. in Martinsville. Authorities were granted a search warrant to his home in Martinsville on Monday, June 9, and conducted the search on Wednesday, June 11.
When questioned by officers, Laymon fully admitted to using Peer to Peer networks for child pornography. He allegedly said that his age of preference was, "middle school."
Further, Laymon allegedly admitted to downloading child porn his entire adult life, including his entire career as a City of Martinsville Firefighter. Laymon told officials that he had at least three hard drives of approximately 10,000 - 12,000 files of child pornography.
Significant portions of this story are redacted due to the extremely explicit content listed in the court documents.
He was found to be on additional networks with child pornography as recent as May 31, 2025.
