Man on bike dies after being hit by truck

INDIANAPOLIS - A crash involving a pickup and a bicycle left a man dead, police say.




According to an incident report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Southeast District officers responded around 2:40 p.m. Friday to the 1500 block of S. Sherman Drive for a personal injury crash involving a bike and a truck.




The bicyclist was taken to an area hospital but died from his injuries later in the evening. The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 57-year-old Leander Church.




The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with police, IMPD said.




The crash remains under investigation.
