Man found guilty of 2 counts of murder in Lawrence apartment slaying; jury deadlocked on 3rd count

INDIANAPOLIS - Jurors convicted an Indianapolis man on two of the three murder charges he faced in connection with a 2024 shooting in Lawrence.
Jurors couldn't reach a verdict on the remaining murder count while deliberating the fate of Malik Shaw. We've reached out to the Marion County Prosecutor's Office for more information on this week's verdict.
Shaw faced three counts of murder in the deaths of 19-year-old Aaliyah Wortman, 19-year-old Londyn Coleman and 27-year-old Spencer Lawson Jr.
The murders took place at an apartment complex in Lawrence on April 12, 2024. Officers were dispatched at 7:16 p.m. to the 4400 block of Duxbury Road for a shots fired call at the Jamestowne Apartment Community.
Police found all three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators identified Shaw as the suspect through eyewitness accounts and a cell phone found at the scene. His social media activity also linked him to one of the victims, according to court documents.
Shaw's sentencing hearing is scheduled for Aug. 27.
