Man shot and killed on Indy's northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis Metro Police Department are investigating after a man was shot and killed early Friday morning.

According to IMPD, at 1:38 a.m. officers received a report of a person shot in the 8400 block of Meadowlark Drive.

When officers arrived they located an adult male laying in the street with a gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services went to check on the man and they pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Officers searched the area for evidence to indicate if the shooting occurred at the scene or if the crime occurred somewhere else and the victim was left there. Shortly after, officers located a shell casing on scene which leads them to believe the shooting occurred at the scene.

Officers began to speak to neighbors for more information. A few neighbors told police that they heard a car driving away at a high rate of speed earlier in the evening.

IMPD believes there is no threat to the community and are canvassing the area for doorbell footage to help detectives figure out what happened.

Anyone with information or doorbell footage is asked to call IMPD at (317) 327-3475 or contact Crime Stoppers (317) 262-TIPS (8477).
