MCSO: 3 year-old dies, 2 women arrested for neglect


BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - After a 3-year-old child died in Bloomington, two women were arrested for neglect.




According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, on Aug. 8, officers were called to the 4000 block of North Thomas Road for a welfare check on a 3-year-old who was unconscious and not breathing.




The child was transported to IU Health Bloomington by ambulance and later flown by helicopter to Riley Hospital the same day. They remained there until they were pronounced dead on Wednesday.




On Thursday, MCSO arrested 27-year-old Keera Braun and 50-year-old Millissa Hicks, both of Bloomington.

Braun was arrested for the following preliminary charges:





  • 1 count of Level 1 Neglect of a dependent




  • 1 count of Level 6 Neglect of a dependent.





Hicks was arrested for the following preliminary charges:





  • 1 count Level 1 Neglect of a dependent




  • 1 count Level 6 Neglect of a dependent





Both women have been booked into the Monroe County Correctional Center.




The investigation remains active and ongoing.
