Missing Anderson man found dead

ANDERSON, Ind. - A death investigation is underway in Anderson after a missing man was found dead.




According to the Anderson Police Department, 27-year-old Jeremy Smith was reported missing on July 1, after police executed multiple search warrants and scoured the area around his residence, a Silver Alert was issued on Thursday.

On Friday, police received tips from several individuals who had seen the Silver Alert; these tips led to a possible sighting of Smith in the 2700 block of West 38th Street.




Police used drones and were assisted by other agencies to locate a deceased individual in the area. The individual was later identified as Smith; his body was found near a retention pond.




The investigation remains ongoing.
