PARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - Deputies say a missing Park Township mother and one of her children have been found in Missouri. They are looking for the other two kids and their dog.
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said 50-year-old Michelle Lynn Olszewski and her 8-year-old son were found in St. Louis, Missouri, on Saturday afternoon after they went missing. They have been placed in protective custody.
Olszewski's two other children, ages 14 and 10, are still missing. Ottawa County deputies are working with St. Louis authorities to find them.
Ottawa County deputies began searching for them after Olszewski removed her children from school on Wednesday and left the state. Her rental car and belongings were found at a hotel in Indiana, but they had not been seen at or near the hotel since Thursday.
On Saturday morning, the sheriff's office said it was working with the Mishawaka Police Department to find Olszewski, her children and their dog, Lambchop. Lambchop is a Shiba Inu breed, medium-sized and golden brown with some white coloring.
"They did find evidence that Michelle may be mentally unstable at this time and has a history of mental instability," the sheriff's department said in a release.
The sheriff's office previously said they did not have a known source of transportation. It's unclear how they got to Missouri.
