Motorcyclist injured in crash in McCordsville

McCORDSVILLE, Ind. - A motorcyclist was injured in a crash in McCordsville on Saturday.

A spokesperson for the Hancock County 911 Center confirmed that first responders were dispatched to a Meijer gas station located near Carroll Road and West Broadway Street to assist with the crash. When emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they located a motorcycle that had been involved in a crash with a car.

First responders initially called a medical helicopter to the scene because the crash involved a motorcycle. The medical helicopter was disregarded because medics with the Vernon Township Fire Department indicated a ground ambulance was capable of conducting necessary transportation operations.

Officials with the Hancock County 911 Center could not confirm the exact nature of the motorcyclist's injuries. The medical status of the motorcyclist is currently unknown.

It is unclear how many people occupied the car involved in the crash. It is also unknown if any of the car's occupants were injured in the crash.

A 911 center spokesperson indicated a team of fatal crash investigators was called to the scene because first responders initially believed at least one person was seriously injured in the crash.

Officers with the McCordsville Police Department closed the road while investigators examined the crash scene. It is unclear exactly when the crash occurred.

As of this article's publication, no additional information on the crash had been made available.
