No Kings protest held at Indiana Statehouse

INDIANAPOLIS - A No Kings protest was held at the Indiana Statehouse Saturday afternoon.

Around noon, protestors brought signs to the Indiana Statehouse to protest actions taken by President Donald Trump and his administration.

The No Kings Coalition organized No Kings protests across the nation on Saturday. Protest organizers called the national demonstrations a direct response to the military parade Trump held in Washington D.C. Saturday afternoon.

Per The Associated Press, the parade came with an estimated price tag of $45 million. The AP reported that 6,000 soldiers and 128 Army tanks participated in the event. The parade was held on Trump's 79th birthday and served as recognition of the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army.

In a press release, the No Kings Coalition indicated that there were No Kings protests in 2,100 U.S. cities and towns on Saturday. Protest organizers estimated that millions participated in the protests across the nation.

In Indianapolis, specifically, protestors stood out in the rain at the Indiana Statehouse. Protestors' signs were plastered with phrases like "Hoosiers against fascism" and "No kings since 1776."

"Today, across red states and blue, rural towns and major cities, Americans stood in peaceful unity and made it clear: we don't do kings," No Kings Coalition officials wrote in a prepared statement on Saturday's national protests. "While Trump and MAGA-aligned governors wasted public dollars on riot gear and fear tactics, the people brought hope, humor, and harmony. A national act of joyful resistance.

"This administration disappears people while cutting their care - slashing healthcare, gutting education, and criminalizing immigrants instead of delivering dignity. But today was a reminder: we are still here. Still organizing. Still rising. Still unafraid. We don't do kings in this country. We do solidarity. We do community. We do justice - and we do it together."

Saturday's demonstration marked the second significant protest against federal initiatives in Indianapolis this week. On Wednesday, protestors gathered outside Gainbridge Fieldhouse for a demonstration related to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
